Attendance at school is essential. Children with just 5% absence during their time at primary school have significantly lower achievement than those higher attendance. The effect is even higher for those with higher absence. This effect continues into high schools where the number of grade C and above in GCSE is reduced.
To support full attendance each and every week, all children with 100% attendance earn one Ollie Owl pound. These can be spent at the Ollie Owl school shop on a range of exciting products. Saving up Ollie Owl pounds means more expensive items can be bought.
Older pupils regularly run The Royal Bank of Attendance and the shop in the Magpie Room and the shop and bank are open on selected Friday mornings in Reception between 8.30a.m. and 8.50a.m. for Reception children to visit with their parents.
Every half term, the highest attending classes in Key stage 1 and Key stage 2 each have a full disco in school to celebrate their achievement.
Every child with 97.5% attendance or above is also entered into our termly prize draws with winners receiving shopping vouchers.
And lastly, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to every child who has had excellent, great or good attendance.
