Greenhill Primary School

Music

Music teaches children an international language that allows them to experience time, place and culture. At Greenhill, we use a well-regarded scheme; Charanga. Through a progressive series of lessons, children learn about a wide range of musical styles through a familiar and repeated pattern of learning; singing and learning a song, learning the key notes to that musical style, improvising using those notes, rehearsing and then performing to an audience. Children learn through engagement of voice, instruments and rhythm pattern. The Charanga curriculum is a spiral, and revisits key ideas for solid reinforcement.
