Phonics (Reading & Writing)

Phonics

In Phonics, we learn to read and write. The first stage of Phonics is to practise our listening skills to get ready to tune into the sounds of letters, which is crucial for learning to read and write. We call this 'Phase 1' - we have provided lots of games for you below. We regularly practise this stage, even as we begin Phase 2. In Phase 2, we beginning to say, read and write letters. In school so far, we have been practising 's', 'a' and 't'. You can find activities below to practise these letters.

See Tapestry for our regular phonics games and activities.

- Did you like the story? Why or why not?
- What happened in the story? (Beginning, middle, end)
- Why did the caterpillar have a tummy ache?
