At Greenhill, we have chosen Spanish as our modern foreign language. Our children are most likely to go to a Spanish speaking country on a Summer holiday and our curriculum has been carefully designed around daily activities so that it will be of use to them. So, we learn about how to speak in shops, ordering food in restaurants etc. The children routinely speak Spanish every day within the classroom throughout all year groups in KS2, from answering the register in Spanish to asking if they can sharpen a pencil to asking if they can go to the toilet. We use a uniform approach, when delivering Spanish to develop consistency so that our children are familiar with the lesson structures in Spanish which diminishes their identified barriers to learning.
