History

History teaches the chronology of Britain through a range of sources and historical enquiry. Children learn a clear and coherent history of our nation through looking at key periods of change and linking these to important periods in world history. They learn how to position periods of time from developing an understanding of chronology and gain an understanding of how people lived by looking at a range of appropriate artefacts. They use their historical enquiry skills to prove their understanding and challenge ideas of how our country has changed from the Stone Age until the present day. History teaching enables our children to place themselves in time and become motivated citizens of their generation who can learn from the past, which will inform their own future.

The History curriculum weaves its way into the Greenhill Thread' in a chronologically sound order with teaching delivering thematic, interesting and investigative units of work for our young historians to get their teeth into!
