Music Development Plan
🎵 Music Development Plan – Greenhill Primary School (Summary)
At Greenhill Primary School, our Music Development Plan ensures that all pupils receive a high-quality, inclusive and progressive music education in line with guidance from the Department for Education and the National Plan for Music Education (2022).
All pupils receive a weekly timetabled music lesson from EYFS to Year 6, ensuring consistent access to music. Our curriculum is delivered through the Sing Up Music scheme, informed by the Model Music Curriculum, and is carefully sequenced to develop pupils’ skills in singing, playing instruments, composing and listening over time.
Music is a valued part of our broad and balanced curriculum, supporting expectations from Ofsted. In addition to classroom learning, pupils access a range of co-curricular opportunities, including instrumental tuition, choir and ensemble experiences, and performances both in school and the wider community.
Regular singing assemblies, performances, productions and whole-school music events ensure that pupils experience music as a central part of school life. Through our inclusive approach and strong partnerships with external providers and the local music hub, all pupils are supported to develop confidence, creativity and a lifelong enjoyment of music.
