Welcome to Year 1

Summer 2

Weekly Home Learning Projects

Home Learning

We have made home learning packs for all the children in Year 1. This pack is for both the children who have returned to school (to complete on the weeks when they are not in school) and children who are continuing to learn from home.

If your child is in school during the week beginning 15th June 2020, this pack will be sent home with them on 19th June 2020. If your child is in school during the week beginning 22nd June 2020 then the pack will be sent home with them on 26th June 2020.

If your child is not returning to school, or if you would like the pack earlier than the above dates, the pack will be available for you to collect outside the main school gate on the following days:

11:00-12:00 on Wednesday 17th June

13:00-14:00 on Thursday 18th June

If you will have difficulty collecting the packs, please email the class teacher on the year group email.

If your child has returned to school, a homework grid will also be sent home with them on the last Friday of their week in school. This will contain more practical activities that you could complete with your child that build on what has been taught during the week. This grid will also be available on the Year 1 page on the school website. We do not expect you to complete all the activities. We are providing a range of resources so that you have a choice over what to complete and there should be something available to suit everybody’s needs.

Miss Atkinson and Miss Worthy are continuing to update the subject pages on our website and set activities on SeeSaw.

Please do not bring any of the learning you complete at home back into school as we are trying very hard to minimise the number of things being transferred between school and home. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the Year 1 email address.

Thank you for your support,

The Key Stage One Team

All of year 1 are set up on the learning app Seesaw. We have been using this in class to share our learning with each other. It is an excellent way to communicate with each other as a class and allows your children to keep in touch with their teachers. We can also set learning tasks and games for you to complete. It is free to use and works like a blog/facebook style, it is safe and secure to use. If you would like your child's access code please email us at y1@greenhill.leeds.sch.uk. We miss you all and would love to hear from you!

BBC Bitesize have also created daily lessons for maths, English and lots more. You can watch them on iPlayer, either on your TV or computer. When you've watched the videos there are activities to do to practise your skills.

Internet Safety

Adults please remember to keep an overview of your child’s internet / social media activity. Although there are many apps that allow live streaming and chats with friends, not all of them have an automatic “private mode” , and other, unknown people could be joining in chats. On our website e-safety page, we have all our newsletters, which take adults through many of the games and social media that our children have been using. Please help your children stay safe online.
