Some fun activities to try at home this week!
We will change this every week so make sure you keep checking on our class page to see what fun things you could do at home!
As you may be aware some of our children in year 1 have been part of a project called Tutormate in which they read to their tutor online for half an hour a week. Tutormate have been working hard to provide support to our school during this time. They have now released some free materials, including access to free books online.
If you need access to free online stories to read with your child visit this site on a tablet/laptop: https://bit.ly/tutormatego (not suitable for mobile phones).
For more information please download and read this document:
The teachers in Year 1 are Miss Worthy (Willow) and Miss Atkinson (Elm).
They are supported by Mrs Murphy, Miss McCann, Miss Pickard and Miss Garnett.
If you wish to contact your class teacher by e-mail then send one to
Monday 30th March - Rice Krispie Cake Day
Wednesday 1st April - April Fools Day
Thursday 2nd April - Chick Chick Chicken Day
Friday 3rd April - World Party Day
Saturday 4th April - International Carrot Day
Sunday 5th April - Palm Sunday
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday.
Please ensure your child leaves their PE kit in school. It can be taken home in the holidays to be washed.
Please make sure your child brings their book bag to school everyday. Please support your child with their reading. It is so important as this helps with their fluency and progress. Please send your child's book bag in every day so we can hear them read.
We have also set up accounts for every child in year one on https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com. This can really help with your child's reading. Their log-in details are in the back of their reading diaries, if you would like to do some extra reading at home.
We will continue to give out spellings on a Friday for your child to learn for the following week.
Thank you for your continuing support.
The Year 1 Team.
This half term our topic is 'Growing'. We will be focusing on the story 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We will be looking at lots of different versions of this story as well as looking at non-fiction books about plants. In Science we will be learning about the plant life cycle and growing our own beanstalks! In Maths, we will be starting to learn about measurements and numbers up to 50. In Geography we will be learning about maps and map symbols. In Art we will be sketching plants and flowers and learning about Vincent Van Gogh.
